Communal Toothbrush Sterilizer
This project aimed to create a new and innovative toothbrush sterilizer product for a niche market. The product's design is meant for communal living situations with multiple users, like student residences, where a bathroom is shared and many toothbrushes would be stored.
Research
The research for this project mainly focused on distinguishing one's toothbrush from others when closely grouped together. Research was mainly conducted through testing and interviews.
This research resulted in a sorting system that relied on uniquely shaped holes for each toothbrush, allowing for easy recognition of an individual's toothbrush.
Process
The development of this product involved the use of cardboard mockups and digital 3D models. These models helped refine the product's aesthetic and informed the model's final appearance.
The final product, a look-alike model, was created using 3D printing and foam core board. It aimed to have a clinical and unassuming appearance so that it would better fit into any communal bathroom environment.
